Hey all, Kuya Boy here.

Hey all, Kuya Boy here.

If you’ve been around boyinthekitchen.com for a while, you know this started as a cooking blog. If you’re new — welcome to our kitchen.

I’m not a chef — just a husband and a dad who loves to cook. I work a regular job during the day, and most nights you’ll find me and the family at home, in the kitchen, cooking with Filipino flavors I grew up eating.

I’ve always cooked like a kid — tasting as I go, mixing things that may or may not work, trying to get to that moment where my wife says it’s “delishoos.” I started sharing recipes here years ago because I wanted more families to feel comfortable cooking Filipino food at home, even if it was just one dish.

When our son came along, he didn’t just want to watch. He was already stirring pots in his toy kitchen. He wanted a knife, so we gave him a spoon before we found a kid-safe knife. He wanted to pour the soy sauce himself, so we’d pour it from the big bottle into a small bowl and let him go for it. We’d just have the towels ready.

That’s when Boy In The Kitchen turned into the BoyS In The Kitchen children’s book series, with Adobo and Rice Too as the first book from those evenings — two boys, one big red pot, one little rice pot. I wrote it for anyone who wasn’t afraid of a little soy sauce on the counter, because that’s how dinner becomes a memory.

Thanks for being here from the old posts to this next chapter.
